The criteria for this scholarship exemplifys Monica’s spirit and there were many qualified applicants. In the classroom, our 2011 scholarship recipient takes challenging core classes like AP Chemistry, AP US History, AP Biology, AP Psychology and AP English. Our winner is well rounded and creative, filling her schedule with courses from law and justice to creative writing to AP art. She’s a leader, as President of the Creative Writing Club and Secretary of the art club. She is devoted to her faith. And – just like Monica – she makes room in her schedule for cross country and track. The scholarship requires a letter of recommendation from a friend and her friend had this to say about her: “She has changed my life. She helped me realize I wanted to live during my dark times, she helped me adjust to places I didn’t want to be in, but most of all she’s given me the greatest and most genuine friendship a person could ask for.”
